The 5th meeting of the Reunion Committee met June 18, 2005 at the Pine's house.  The meeting was preceeded with a pot luck lunch.

Present for the meeting where Larry Orme, Mike Bristow, Gary Pine, William Arndt, Steve Thompson, Don Hovde, Ronny  Bush, Linda Grotzky Orme, Ethel Rance Garand, Ginny Vielehr Pine, Alice Bayne Bush, Joyce Hanson Jenkins, Ann Forward Norris, Anne Sandoe-Thorp, Dianne Schadegg Bush and Marsha Pearson Hovde.

Because most of the decissions needed to be made several months ago the meeting was light and easy.  We met our contractural obligation on June 15th.  We needed at least 100 paid classmates or the committee would have been faced with making a finincial guarantee.  We 105 paid classmates and the number is raising daily.  Because we have met the minimum guarantee we are at liberty to accept late registrations up to the last week of July.   Charging a late fee was discussed and a motion to NOT charge a late fee was passed.  Bush said the budget was set up on a minimum attendance of a little over 100 classmates. Guests are not counted in this as their fee just covers the cost of the meal.

Classmates have been given the opportunity to make a contribution to the ongoing work of the Alumni Association (which will become the term for the post reunion activity).   About $1070 has been collected so far from 48 classmates.   Ongoing Alumni Association activities may include future mailings and the monthly web hosting fee.  The Committee briefly discussed another reunion sooner than 2015.  We will see how much energy everyone has for planning another reunion.   The Committee discussed holding a quarterly get-together, an annual reunion in association with the Elks Club every August which is what the Elks does each year, and a travel club for those interested.

The Memory Book will be compiled in August, printed and mailed early in September.

Alice and Ronny are working on prizes and giveaways for the Main Event.  Part of the meeting was spent attaching bhs65 logos to mylar sacks.  The logos were printed on peel and stick printer paper. Also, individual thank you notes were hand written to the 48 classmates who donated to the Alumni Association.  These activities are captured in a photo montage.

Ronny Bush showed the Committee how to print a logo onto iron-on printer paper and iron it onto a t-shirt (see photo montage).   Several samples of the iron-on logo were given out.  Committee members should be given a prize if they can get them ironed onto a t-shirt.

A week before the deadline (to get the 100 needed for the obligation) only 70 had paid for the Main Event.  Ronny sent a mass e-mailing to the 120 on the email list.  Within a few days 70 paid registrations came in.  It seemed that our classmates needed a kick in the but to get the checks in the mail.  With that in mind, it was dicided that we should contact those without e-mail and deliver a reminder.   Post cards would not get out in time.  Calling is the only way.  So, several volunteered to call between now and July 7th (or so).   Ronny and Alice, when they have nothing else to do, will privide a calling list to the volunteers.

Only 12 have signed up for golf.  The golf course needs 10 foursomes (40) golfers in order to provide us with a tournament start.  If there are fewer than 40 then the tournament start will be called off and the golfers will use a normal tee time start.

Many classmates said yes to the Saturday morning activities but did not indicate which activity they will attend.  Mike Bristow offered to call those and help them decide which to do.

We all had a great time.

Ronny
