A Burning Flame

There is within each of us a burning flame of creativity.

Would not the company of your classmates be good venue for expression!

It's not a giclee of Rembrandt we should seek but,
Oh, would that we adorn a wall with creations from the hands of friends.

Oh, would that our ears could hear familiar voices joined with writings they have penned.

To close our eyes and recall our childhood play
and yet to know the sands of time rest full upon their written thoughts.

Be joined in thought and counsel of your peers
to extend your craft and challenged towards the end.
There is no finish line we seek but to the path we follow towards some mutual goal
that we may encourage and be encouraged lest we fail to aim at lofty things.

Although I don't paint or sculpt, I have developed a passion for woodworking and cabinetry.  Living in Iowa affords me access to high quality hardwoods and adverse winters which compel me to be in the shop.  I am particularly fond of early American designs in the Queen Anne and (later) Eastlake style.  As is the case with all artistic endeavors, there's always something new to try--and often a new tool needed to accomplish it . . .
